Mongolia is the birthplace of the famous conqueror, Genghis Khan or as he is known in Mongolian: Chinggis Khaan . The Mongolian People are proud of their history and consider Chinggis Khaan to be a great hero. Nowadays 30% of the population are nomads, who have maintained their ancient culture since the middle of the (XII-XIII) century at the foundation of the Great Mongolian Empire.

Mongolia is referred to as the “Land of blue sky, as it is sunny and clear for around 250 days per year.

Mongolia is also called the “Emptiness place,” as it is the 18th largest country in the world, but its population is only 3 million. Moreover, 40% of its citizens live in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. Thus, Mongolia is the least densely populated country in the world.

The country is a vast land of exotic attractions and "must-see" destinations. It comprises four corners, each with a distinct character and composition. The South is famous for its monasteries, the Gobi desert, Yolin Am, Khongoryn Els Bayanzag ( South Mongolian deserts ). The North boasts stunningly beautiful Khuvsgul lake, the Dark Blue Pearl of Mongolia, as well asreindeers.The West offers the towering peaks of Altai Tavan Bogd and is the home of the proud nomadic eagle hunters.The Center also features Karakorum, the old capital, and Gorkhi Terelj National Park.

 

Events

The Naadam Festival (11th -13th  of July): the largest celebration in Mongolia. It will be held in all provinces and villages.Enjoy traditional sports including Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery. It also features different activities such as concerts, nomadic games and traditional meals.

TsagaanSar (late february): the Mongolian Lunar New Year ,Everybody will be dressed in traditional clothes, which include the national Mongolian deel. People will first visit elders, then all relatives and friends during family-centered holiday. Family members will hold long, typically blue, silk cloths called a khadag and exchange gifts. National meals are airag, sheep’s tail,  uulboov  and  buuz (Mongolian traditional meals).

The Golden Eagle Festival: The annual nomadic eagle hunter competition. It will be held in Olgii province, where more than 80 eagle hunters will show off their ancient traditional hunting skills and the training of the sky lords. In addition, many nomadic horse games will be held, such as Kokbar, where two men fight for goat's skin on horseback, and Khyz- Kuar (Traditional horse game between boy and girl) and archery.
