This trip also includes visits to archaeological sites such as the Stone man and ancient petroglyphs from the Bronze Age, visits to the serene Khotun Lake and the beautiful nearby waterfalls, and a visit to a nomadic eagle hunter family where you can learn about the ancient cultural tradition of eagle hunting. Tour Itinerary

DAY1. Arrival in Bayan-Ölgii province, home of the local Kazakh people famous for their traditional Eagle Hunting and nomadic hospitality. Ölgii city is the centre of the province located 1700 km west of the capital Ulaanbaatar. The flight is about three hours. At the airport you will meet your support team including your English speaking tour guide, cook and driver with your 4x4 car. On this day we will head to the east entrance of the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park in the Oigor Valley.

DAY2. Hiking to Base camp (3100m), on the way we will have lunch with a nice view. All camping, cooking and baggage will transported by camels with the local guide providing assistance. Total hiking takes about 6 hours.

DAY3.   Climb to Malchin peak (4050m). The trek will take around 6 hours. The peak is famous for its view into Russia and also because of the lack of a need for climbing equipment. Explore the Potanin Glacier which is 23 square kilometers. Stay overnight in a tent.

DAY4.   Hiking down along White River (south entrance of the park). One of most beautiful valleys in Bayan Ölgii, the local people are Tuvan, who have their own language and religion: Shamanism. Enjoy the lifestyle of the Tuvan families and if you’re brave try some of their handmade vodka (samagon).

DAY5. Drive to Baga TurgenValley on the other side of the National Park. It will take about 5-7 hours to drive. On the way, break for lunch. Sleep overnight in tents.

DAY6. After breakfast hike to Waterfalls: 2-3 hours. Afterwards, drive 1 hour to Khoton Lake. Beautiful view along with swimming and fishing.  

DAY7. Drive back to Ölgii, on the way visit with Eagle Hunter’s family. Explore their ancient traditional hunting with their trained golden eagles. Enjoy hospitality of the Mongolian Kazakh Eagle Hunters. That evening return to Ölgii. Stay at hotel. Firewell Dinner at local restaurant with the whole team.
