Short Tours

“Dauren Travel” offers short tours in the western region of Mongolia, we do our best to give you the greatest and most immersive experience in a reasonable and manageable amount of time. Depending on the length of your stay, here are some of our suggested tours. You are also more than welcome to edit the activities of your tour as you like. Tours typically start at 9 o’clock local time.We mostly use a 4x4 off road Land Cruiser for a safe and comfortable ride.

Day tour Itinerary

Visit local Kazakh Museum, go to open-air market, drive to nearby Sagsai village, meet local nomadic eagle hunters, have lunch of local food, go horse-riding, drive back to Olgii, enjoy dinner with traditional meal “bes barmak” (meal consisting of a large meat plate)

Two-Day Tours

 

Option A:

DAY 1: Visit local Kazakh Museum, drive to Khoton lake (takes around 5 hours), on the way we stop for lunch and take pictures, swim and fish at the lake, stay overnight in a tent.

DAY 2: Hike in the area, drive back to Olgii, on the way stop and visit an eagle hunter’s family, experience the ancient hunting tradition of the eagle hunters, eat dinner in Olgii and try a traditional Kazakh meal: “besbarmak” (meal consisting of a large meat plate)

DAY 1:  Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park (takes around 5 hours),hike or travel on horseback from entrance to basecamp (trip is around 16km), stay overnight in a tent.

DAY 2: From basecamp, view the highest peak in Mongolia:Khuiten (4374m) and the stunning Potanin glacier, hike down to the park entrance, drive back to Olgii, on the way stop and visit aneagle hunter’s family, experience the ancient hunting tradition ofthe local Kazakh eagle hunters maintained for thousands of years,enjoy a farewell dinner with a traditional Kazakh meal: “besbarmak” (meal consisting of a large meat plate)

 

Three-Day Tours

Option A:

DAY 1:  Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park (takes around 5 hours),hike or travel on horseback from entrance to basecamp (trip is around 16km), stay overnight in tent.

DAY 2: Hike to Malchin Peak (4050m, located on the border between Russia and Mongolia and takes around 7 hours to hike to), enjoy beautiful view of the Russian side, stay overnight in a tent.

DAY 3: Hike down to the park entrance, drive back to Olgii, on the way stop and visit aneagle hunter’s family, experience the ancient hunting tradition ofthe local Kazakh eagle hunters maintained for thousands of years,enjoy a farewell dinner with a traditional Kazakh meal“besbarmak” (meal consisting of a large meat plate)

Option B:
